How do you puree cooked vegetables without a food processor?

Unbiased wondering as I want to make pumpkin soup, but I don't have a food processor. All the recipes I've looked at say to use a food processor.

A stay blender will do, so will a regular blender, and when technology fails, use an old fashioned potato masher.
